3 mental health TIPS & TRICKS that I learnt from Sam Webb, owner of Livinorg which is a mental health awareness group based in Australia.
Self Care- It is easy for me to sit here preaching about these things, but I am fully aware having experienced depression myself, that it is hard to focus on self-care ie looking after yourself when you are down in the dumps. Self-care and prioritising your health is number 1 when it comes to your overall happiness if you don’t put your health first then how do you expect to serve others and create a healthy mind?
Listen- Just as Sam Webb explained in my podcast interview, try to focus on actually listening to other people and fully hearing them out, I don’t mean just waiting for them to finish but actually listening, showing compassion and applying any relevant information to your own life, this will help you achieve more of a positive mindset.
Exercise & Sleep- In no particular order you probably don’t need me to tell you this but prioritise exercise and sleep. When we partake in any regular exercise and this could involve anything which involves getting off the couch, we release endorphins and serotonin which are mood-boosting hormones. Sleep is vital so make sure you focus on good quality sleep by aiming to wind down and coming off all electronics and finishing eating at least 1-2 hours before bedtime, lack of good quality sleep alone can lead to Alzheimer’s, depression etc.
