Spending time with your kids exercising, bonding and having fun at the same time You’ll love it they will love it and it is a great way for you and your kids to get in some exercise.

Did you know kids need at least 60 minutes of moderate exercise a day? Adults are supposed to have 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week pretty tough to get that exercise in, but not if you are exercising and having fun with your kids at the same time.

There are health benefits when playing like a kid and your kids will benefit at the same time as you.

Monkey Bars

Monkey bars are fantastic for working upper body muscles using your shoulders, arms and especially your hands and forearms which helps your kids with grip. As you climb up and down the bars this exercises both your arms and legs at the same time; try and get your kids to do the same too. Hanging from a bar stretches the whole body. You could also try doing a chin-up to strengthen your arms, back and shoulders. Whatever you are doing, get your kids to follow suit and they’ll be working all the same gross motor muscle groups too.

When you pump your legs forward to swing high, you’ll be working your quadriceps and hamstrings, which are at the front and back of your thighs. The harder you pump, the higher you swing and the more intense the workout becomes. Your kids obviously won’t be pumping as hard as you do, but they’ll be working the same muscle groups which are important for their development. Just the mere motion of pushing your kids on the swing will work your triceps too.

Many of our swing sets come with slides and climbing those steps will work your quadriceps, hamstrings and buttocks. Sliding down is a whole lot of fun, which in turn gives you an energy boost, to make sure you can get at it all over again! As an additional workout, catch your child at the bottom of the slide and lift them overhead this will provide a leg work out, arms and back– this is awesome for an upper-body workout, Just remember to be sure you bend your knees to protect your back and lift to your ability. Try stretching before you do this as you would if you were going to the gym.

Remember above all this should be fun for both you and your kids.
